You can call me old fashioned, but I love holding a book in my hand. There is truly nothing like it. It’s really the whole experience. I love curling up by the fireplace and sipping my coffee while anxiously flipping the pages of a good book. Let’s be real though, it’s 2023. My fireplace is electric, the smartphone is within arms reach, my dog is whining, the kids are watching Youtube, and my husband is working from his home office (the couch). Between school pick up lines and travel sports we don’t always have time to dedicate to our home library. So thankfully we have bluetooth speakers and audiobooks. What a day to be alive!

The Dinner List | Written and Narrated by Rebecca Serle
If you could choose five people to have dinner with, living or dead, who would you choose? We’ve all been asked this question at some point. Sabrina sits down with her five for her thirtieth birthday dinner. Although her five wouldn’t be my five, I related to her story on so many levels. It was a tragic, yet beautiful story. Why audio? The author narrates this story and she really does a fantastic job of storytelling. The book is only about 6 hours long and is a great quick listen while commuting to work or doing chores.
Greenlights | Written and Narrated by Matthew McConaughey
I really only knew Matthew McConaughey as a crazy Rom-Com actor. I think his point of writing this memoir is not just to tell people his story but to show people he’s more than just that Rom-Com guy. He is so witty and I loved his stories. It is an absolute must listen. Why audio? Matthew McConaughey’s voice is like butter, should I say more?
The Christie Affair | Written by Nina de Gramont and Narrated by Lucy Scott
The disappearance of Agatha Christie was all the chatter in the 20s, for eleven days anyways. This book is full of mystery and surprises. Although the book is a historical fiction, I love how it reimagines her story from Nan’s perspective. I’m a sucker for historical fiction, regardless, this one is a must read! Why audio? Lucy Scott makes me feel like I’m actually listening to Nan telling the story. Her British accent is easy to understand, and makes me feel like I’m in the 20s.
My Friend Anna | Written and Narrated by Rachel DeLoache Williams
After watching the trainwreck Netflix series, I had to know absolutely everything about Anna Delvey. I can’t claim sides without hearing both sides, right? I mean this story was all too crazy to ignore. It was like a daytime soap opera and a little sex in the city, all wrapped up in a lavish hotel that nobody is paying for! Needless to say, I couldn’t get enough. Why audio? Rachel told her own story in her own words, and made me honestly see her side of things. That’s impressive, plus she deserved her 15 minutes of fame.
Will | Written and Narrated by Will Smith, with contributions from Mark Manson
As a 90s kid, I was raised on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. It was the first place I saw Will Smith. He’s always been hilarious and charismatic, and his memoir is no different. This was by far my favorite audiobook I listened to this year. It is a whopping 16 hour listen, and worth every minute. I never once got bored. Why audio? Well for starters I could listen to Will Smith all day. He makes you listen. He has a way of getting your attention and keeping it. Also, you will hear him rap, I guarantee you won’t get that reading with your eyes. This book is 100% worth the listen!
