Have you ever picked up a book and literally couldn’t put it back down? I’m not exaggerating when I say, I carried these treasures to the bathroom with me! I stayed up well past 2 AM reading these, and that’s saying something when you have 2 kids. A book that is good enough for me to forgo sleep, is definitely worth my praise! These 5 books are more than that. These 5 books, I actually wanted to reread right away! They were that good! I can’t wait to share them with you.
We Were Liars | E. Lockhart
This book still leaves me almost speechless. I am pretty good at predicting the way a book will end, but I did not see that ending coming. I read this book on a day of flying across the country. It’s a quick read, and you’ll be obsessed! It’s about a group of four friends that spend the summer on a family island. There is love, mystery, family drama, and secrets. I don’t want to spoil this one, just take a day and read it! Don’t forget the tissues.
Where the Crawdads Sing | Delia Owens
This book has blown up, and now there is a film adaptation. If you haven’t had a chance to read the book, it’s time to do so. This book is so beautifully written. Parts of it felt like poetry. Who can make a marsh sound so beautiful? Kya is a young girl left on her own to raise herself in the marsh. It’s heartbreaking at times, and breathtaking at times. Kya shows such strength and perseverance when it feels like a whole town is against her. I just loved this book and I’m confident you will too.
The Nightingale | Kristin Hannah
This historical fiction will knock your socks off. It’s hands down one of the best books I’ve ever read. It takes place in France during WWII, following two very unique sisters’ lives. Kristin Hannah has a way of completely immersing you in this story. You will cry, and it will be worth it. I was so intimidated by this book’s size, and I seriously read it in 3 days. I’m not 100% sure I slept at all. This book sold me on Kristin Hannah, and I’ve been an avid fan since.
The Midnight Library | Matt Haig
If you ever find yourself in a rut, this book will likely pull you to your feet. We’ve all thought at times in our lives, what if? Is the grass greener on the other side? Somewhere between here and the afterlife, there is a library full of books. Nora decides this life is just too much for her, and she finds herself at The Midnight Library. In a life full of regrets, she’s longing to know what her life would’ve been like had she chosen a different path. This book will leave you full of gratitude for your own life.
The History of Wild Places | Shea Ernshaw
Do you ever find yourself wanting to pack up and disappear? Leave all these modern day amenities and just live off the land. This book was so beautifully written, it had me dreaming of leaving it all behind. The story starts out with a very intriguing psychic named Travis who is hired to find a well known children’s author who has been missing for 5 years. Travis finds himself at a hidden community where he believes the missing woman has been. Travis’ character pulls you into this story right away. Then the author pulls the rug out from under you and introduces you to three new characters living in a commune. It’s a roller coaster of emotions, it leaves you questioning everything and I loved every minute of it.
What’s a book you immediately wanted to read again? Did you enjoy these books as much as I did? I would love to hear what you think!
